Uniform

At St Anthony’s, our school uniform is more than just clothing—it’s a reflection of our shared values, sense of belonging, and pride in our kura. Wearing it with respect shows our commitment to unity, readiness for learning, and care for our school community.

Uniform guidelines

At St Anthony’s, we believe wearing our uniform with pride helps create a sense of belonging, focus and readiness for learning. To help things run smoothly and fairly, here are some helpful guidelines:

Uniform Essentials
  • Students are expected to wear the correct school uniform each day.
  • Please ensure all items are named—this makes it easier to return lost property.
  • Undergarments should be discreet and not visible beneath shirts or dresses.
  • Black bike shorts may be worn under dresses or tunics, but should remain unseen.
Footwear
  • Uniform footwear should be plain black, including soles (no canvas or fashion styles).
  • Black sandals or black leather-style trainers are welcome.
  • Sports shoes may be worn during play breaks but should not be worn to and from kura.
Sun Protection
  • Our school sunhat is required outdoors in Term 1 and Term 4.
  • Tamariki are encouraged to wear sunhats on warm days during the other terms as well.
Hair & Accessories
  • Longer hair should be tied back neatly.
  • Hair ties and accessories must be in navy, black, or our school tartan—please keep them simple and uniform-friendly.
Jewellery
  • Small, plain studs or sleepers in gold or silver are permitted.
  • Cultural or religious taonga can be worn discreetly under clothing.
  • Other types of jewellery are best kept for home.
