Every term brings new sparks of curiosity, creativity, and growth across our kura. This space celebrates moments from our classrooms—where tamariki explore big ideas, collaborate with their peers, and let their imaginations lead the way. Here’s a glimpse into the heart of learning at St Anthony’s.
Term 1: I am Compassionate
Do your actions speak louder than words?
Whakatauki:
Anei au, tō pou whirinaki - I’m here, I’ll support you

Term 2: Ko au te ātaahua | I am Beauty
How can we recognise and celebrate the beauty within ourselves, others and God's creation?
Whakataukī
He oranga ngākau, he pikinga waiora- a healthy heart is a source of wellbeing (true beauty comes from within — from a healthy, kind, and loving heart)
"I Am." These two words, simple yet profound, are the starting point for self-discovery. Like the intricate, flowing patterns of marbled paper, our identities are a unique and beautiful blend of experiences, emotions, and thoughts.
This piece, created through the ancient art of marbling, invites us to reflect on our 2025 theme of "I am." As we look inward and embrace our own complexities, we can begin to see and appreciate the same in others. Marbling is a reminder that while each pattern is distinct, they are all created from the same fundamental elements, just as we are all unique, yet all made in the image of God.

Term 3: I am curious | He pākiki ahau
Why is it a good thing to ask questions, not just know the answers?
Whakatauki
Ko ia kāhore nei i rapu, tē kitea | He who does not seek will not find.

Our inquiry topic for Term 3 was I Am Curious. We spent the term learning about simple machines, electricity, boats, and choosing our own topics to research. We learned how to research using books from our school library as well as the House of Science kits.
Our research process began by identifying a topic that we were curious about. We have to narrow this idea down to one big question that we would focus on. We found books from the library and began to learn how to take notes and keep track of our learning.
We learned to summarise our information into 1 paragraph for our Curiosity Convention posters. We also learned how to draw labelled diagrams.
When we had finished our research, we had some fun learning about fact vs fiction. We did a writing activity called “Fact or Fib” where we stated a ‘fact’ or a ‘fib’ and people had to guess if it was true or false. We added these to our posters.
He Atahwai had so much fun being researchers!
